*IN CHRONOLOGICAL ORDER*
Yellow Pages.
My first complete body of work, the 'Yellow Pages.'
Painted across fifteen primarily yellow canvases with vibrant colors and intricate compositions. These paintings capture pivotal moments from my childhood that share the very beginnings of my story as an artist. From my moment of birth, in 1999, to the loss of my kid brother in 2014. This body of work comes to an end with the departure from my childhood home out into the world on my own.
Apr. 2021 - Apr. 2022
Garden Paintings.
May 2023 - Dec. 2023
My second body of work, the Garden or Jungle Paintings.
Consisting of twenty-one geometric, nature scenes inspired by my experiences of building a new life and respectable name for myself through my work. I am no longer within the same comfortable space I was raised in. Solo Exhibitions, networking with potential buyers and good intentioned arguments with gallery directors seems to be my new normal. While attending a gallery's new show, I find myself lost in a jungle surrounded by unfamiliar faces.
Charcoals on Canvas.
Sep. 2023 - Present day.
Charcoal works inspired by the woman who called me an "Acrylic King."
If all the work I have created in my past is acrylic paintings on canvas, it would be safe to assume that I am a painter. An, "Acrylic King" as she put it.
This label of a "painter" begins to feel like a creative limitation put on my artistry. My hands crave to sculpt from marble or work with clay pottery on a spinning wheel.
I find interest in the art of architecture, interior design, photography. My first step with the intention of expanding my a has been experimenting with charcoal sticks.
This tool has created an entirely new layer to my work and has unintentionally become a body of work in itself.
